BRD's Biography

Dr. Bharat R Dave

Born in a middle class family, with limited resources in a village Kapadwanj, he is the epitome of hard work and dedication.

His determined endeavors and unyielding spirit paved way for the emergence and development of operative spine care treatment in Gujarat. Decades ago when most Orthopedics and Neurosurgeons would not see spine surgery as a full time career pursuance, this surgeon not only pursued the so-far overlooked area but also made others see the necessity and efficacy of spine surgery through his innovative way of treatment and medication. A Gandhian by way of living, he honored the promise he made to his principal father who planted the idea of becoming a doctor in his mind. Helping the needy is his second nature. A visionary and self-made man, he is Dr. Bharat R Dave, the founder-director of Stavya Spine Hospital and Research Institute pvt.

Being a student of Gujarat University and Royal College of London, with MS Orthopedics as well as Mch Spine and Ph.D Orthopaedics under his name, this Kapadwanj boy is now one of the best Spine Surgeon’s in India.

Having exception clarity and unwavering diagnostic skills, he can treat patients precisely. He has made miracles happen, by treating patients with rare diseases. At the same time, he advices patients not to get operated if not necessary. He believes in non surgical treatment, inspite of being a surgeon.

“Patient should earn the surgery” says Dr Bharat Dave.

  • OPD 4 patient in one day.
  • Worked from 1997 to 2002

The OPD and Spine Surgery figures of Stavya Spine in year 2025-26 have reached to 310000 and 33000+ respectively.

Having 100+ Out patient consultations and 5-10 surgeries everyday seems impossible to cope. He has been working from 6 AM to 10 PM constantly for the last 25 years, probably the only surgeon in the world who doesn’t sit during OPD.

“The decade-long association with VS Hospital was a turning point in my career. In fact, the enriching experience provided the desired directions that paved the way for foundation of Stavya Super-specialty Hospital in 2004. The benefit of running one-man show all these years helped me to rise to every challenge the launch of Stavya came with,” says Dr Bharat with a winning smile. smile

Satisfied patients over the years have become the spokespersons of Stavya and that’s why the hospital never needed to allocate budget for advertising. “We see a surge of 15-20K new cases every year. And this is all without any attempt for marketing, advertising or branding. Word of mouth by cured patients has paid Stavya well. We have never done paid promotion,” he says.

Starting from a 313 sq ft clinic in Ahmedabad, he has created an empire of 25000 sq feet for specialised spine care. He has Dr Ajay Krishnan, Scoliosis and Endoscopic Spine Specialist and 2 other skilled Spine surgeons along with 15 physiotherapists working with him at Stavya Spine Hospital for all round back care. Now having the best operation theatre equipments, the world’s best navigation system and O arm for the safest spine surgeries.

“Safe spine surgery at affordable cost with the help of advanced technology and equipment is the vision with which Stavya was founded and I am happy we are on the right track,” says Dr Bharat who has been mentored by Dr R K Patel, Director, UN Mehta Hospital, Civil, and Dr Pankaj Patel, Dean, VS Hospital.

Dr Bharat has been spreading and sharing his acquired source of knowledge among the generation next surgeons. AOSpine, an international community of eminent spine surgeons, often invites Dr Bharat for lectures at Davos to benefit from his insight. AOSpine has acclaimed Stavya as an Asia pacific fellowship training centre for Spine surgeons.

Stavya Charitable Trust helps myriads of patients, hence making the institute the perfect blend of expertise, trustworthiness and human values.

“Be Human is our moto, we don’t charge fees for police officers, class 4 workers and people who need financial help. We believe, if the case is not ours, we return the fees if taken” says Dr. Bharat.

Being a student of Gujarat University and Royal College of London, with MS Orthopedics and Mch Spine under his name, this Kapawanj boy is now one of the best Spine Surgeon’s in India.

A success saga without a support system is nearly unthinkable. Dr Bharat’s exponential rise and emergence of Stavya Hospital wouldn’t have been possible had Mrs Amita Dave, CEO and Director at Stavya, not lent her mammoth support. A die-heart Lata Mangeshkar fan and Sangeet Visharad herself, Amita’s managerial skills have been the landmark of the hospital.

“Management is equally important when it comes to running a successful hospital. Lot of doctors give up, just because they are unable to manage their own centres. When we started, we had only six beds. He (Dr Bharat) used to work from 6 am to 10 pm with hardly any break. He is a workaholic and chases tasks relentlessly until completed. But he is kind and sufferings of others don’t let him relax until he fixes it. To reach out to patients in far-flung areas, he would take early morning buses and sit in driver’s cabin with heavy machines. I have seen him struggle. He has earned his glory,”

–  says Amita Dave.

Dr Bharat’s son Dr Mirant follows his father’s footstep keenly.“Whenever I attend Dad’s OPD, I see patients of all age-groups with disc prolapse and other back pain issues. Fitness trainers and youngsters complaining of severe back problems are common sight these days. This happens because of wrong practices. Simple ergonomic changes and lifestyle modification can prevent almost all diseases, says Dr Mirant Dave .

Since the first day of the college, I have been taught that first Rx for any chronic disease is lifestyle modification. The mind and the body need to be healthy for our well-being. Hence, to help people get the right ways to modify their lifestyle, we have started a new venture – The Body & The Mind LifeStyle Modification centre. It is a part of Stavya as all the Research & Development has been carried out at our hospital to help us bring out the precise protocols for body and mind training, says Dr Mirant Dave.
